You build a draft on nights like this. Bhayshul Tuten had no business being available in the 241st overall pick, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Broughton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Value with a capital V on Tyler Warren in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Luke Kandra in slot 89 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Vernon Broughton well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Sonny Styles was still sitting there in the 165th pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They will replay Bhayshul Tuten at pick 241 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
