Houston Texans

The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Singleton: B.

Call it larceny. Nicholas Singleton sat on the board until pick 239, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The Nwankpa reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 23
In the 19th overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 44
A tidy bit of business in No. 55, where Tyler Warren graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.22 · Pick 86 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 69
Deone Walker slid further than he should have, and slot 86 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.21 · Pick 122 · Luke Kandra · OG · rank 107
Luke Kandra at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.27 · Pick 164 · Xavier Nwankpa · S · rank 189
Xavier Nwankpa at pick 164 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor itch, scratched.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 100
A running back of that caliber at pick No. 239 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
