Call it larceny. Bhayshul Tuten sat on the board until the 241st overall pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice.
If Nwankpa pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a load in the middle, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tyler Booker reach No. 58 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Xavier Watts in the 89th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Steal is underselling it; Gunnar Helm at pick No. 126 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Xavier Nwankpa at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Bhayshul Tuten at the 241st overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
