Houston Texans

The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Tuten: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 150 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 241. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

If Capehart pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 31
In the 25th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
Tyler Booker at No. 58 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Colston Loveland · TE · rank 46
They will replay Colston Loveland at pick No. 89 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.25 · Pick 126 · DeMonte Capehart · DT · rank 147
DeMonte Capehart in pick 126 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.28 · Pick 165 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 101
Lathan Ransom at slot 165 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Bhayshul Tuten · RB · rank 150
Taking Bhayshul Tuten in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
