The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cam Skattebo fell into pick 241. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Somehow Tyler Booker was still sitting there in the 58th pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 89 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taking Kevin Winston Jr. in pick No. 126 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Oronde Gadsden II in the 165th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Cam Skattebo at No. 241 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
