Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Cam Skattebo got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at Round 7, Pick 23.
The cost of the Nwankpa reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Booker in Round 2, Pick 23 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Luke Kandra at pick 122 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Xavier Nwankpa in the 164th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Cam Skattebo in the 239th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
