When a board-topper like Lathan Ransom slides to No. 164, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They read the board right and Tyler Warren was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 26. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Donovan Jackson in pick 89. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Luke Kandra at the 126th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Lathan Ransom in No. 164 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Shilo Sanders at the Round 7 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
