The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Bhayshul Tuten slide 86 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. The Kandra reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Warren slipping to the 58th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Luke Kandra at slot 89 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board fumbled Andrew Mukuba all the way to the 126th pick, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Billy Bowman Jr. at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Bhayshul Tuten at No. 241 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
