Somebody in the 241st pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Ollie Gordon II, the No. 158 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The cost of the Jackson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Donovan Jackson this early at Round 2, Pick 26. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Dylan Fairchild in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Oronde Gadsden II at the 126th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Rod Moore in the 165th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
A running back of that caliber at No. 241 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
