Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Rod Moore, the No. 135 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 165. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Warren is a better player than the 58th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Donovan Jackson at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Sonny Styles in slot 126 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Taking Rod Moore in the 165th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
By-the-book stuff, Shilo Sanders at No. 241 squarely in line with his ranking. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
