The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Nicholas Singleton, the No. 100 name on the board, in the 241st overall pick.
The Nwankpa reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had Tyler Warren higher than Round 2, Pick 26, and the tight end fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Dylan Fairchild all the way to pick 89, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Andrew Mukuba in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A real head-scratcher, Xavier Nwankpa in No. 164 is miles ahead of his ranking. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They will replay Nicholas Singleton at pick No. 241 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
