Thirty-one other rooms let Bhayshul Tuten slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at the 239th pick. Highway robbery. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Reaching for Durant left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Warren at pick 55 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Donovan Jackson in the 86th pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Zane Durant in pick No. 122 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Xavier Nwankpa at slot 164 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Bhayshul Tuten at No. 239 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
