The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cam Skattebo fell into the 165th overall pick. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a load in the middle at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Taking Tyler Booker in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a safety like Xavier Watts reach pick No. 89 and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Oronde Gadsden II at slot 126 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cam Skattebo in No. 165 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Shilo Sanders in Round 7, Pick 25 is fair value, right on his grade. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
