Call it larceny. Sonny Styles sat on the board until the 165th pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. They will need Broughton to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

In slot 25 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Booker at the 58th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Gunnar Helm at pick No. 89 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Vernon Broughton at pick 126 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sonny Styles in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
