The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cam Skattebo fell into pick No. 241.
Every board in the league had Capehart lower, and that gap is the story. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jalon Walker in pick 58, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
DeMonte Capehart in the 89th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Oronde Gadsden II went about where he belonged in slot 126. A need, and now a little less of one.
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 165 is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to No. 241, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
