The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Bhayshul Tuten slide 91 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They are betting Capehart proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a No. 1 receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Tate Ratledge all the way to No. 58, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Colston Loveland in pick 89 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
This one needs a full-page explanation: DeMonte Capehart in slot 126, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
You do not let a running back like Bhayshul Tuten reach the 241st overall pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
