The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, sitting there at No. 241 like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They read the board right and Tyler Warren was the payoff at the 58th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
They barely believed it either: Armand Membou still on the board at pick 89. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Andrew Mukuba was still sitting there in slot 126, and they pounced on premier safety value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid sticker price for Connor Colby in No. 165, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Cam Skattebo at the 241st pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
