The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Raheim Sanders, the No. 145 name on the board, in the 241st pick.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front. The biggest hole, addressed.
A tidy bit of business in the 58th overall pick, where Tyler Warren graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Dylan Fairchild in Round 3, Pick 25 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Kevin Winston Jr. in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Sonny Styles in the 165th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Raheim Sanders in pick 241, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
