The trade table was where it all came apart. The Cowboys shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
Reaching for Jackson left real value on the table behind him. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Guyton.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 1st pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 9th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Guyton at slot 56 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Khyree Jackson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
C.J. Hanson slid further than he should have, and pick 235 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
