Somewhere a general manager is explaining how DJ James got past him. The Giants do not have to explain a thing at Round 4, Pick 7.

Every board in the league had Greenfield lower, and that gap is the story. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.6 · Pick 6 · Malik Nabers · WR · rank 3
In slot 6 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 40
Tyler Nubin at the 47th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 50
Taking Kris Jenkins in No. 70 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · DJ James · CB · rank 53
They will replay DJ James at the 107th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Will Shipley · RB · rank 107
Will Shipley in Round 5, Pick 5 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 216
A big swing on Garret Greenfield at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
