The rest of the league will want that one back. Tyrone Tracy Jr. tumbling to the Packers in pick No. 219 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They will need Williams to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Morgan at pick 32 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid up for Javon Bullard at pick No. 41 when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Value with a capital V on Junior Colson in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Roger Rosengarten. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on MarShawn Lloyd at slot 88, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Trevin Wallace in No. 91 leaves edge rusher, cornerback and other spots for later.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Kitan Oladapo while clear needs at edge rusher, cornerback and other spots sat open.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Evan Williams well ahead of where he belonged. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
A big swing on Jacob Monk at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the 219th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Tylan Grable at pick 245 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jalen Sundell at No. 255 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
