The Patriots put a flag in the ground for Richard Jibunor, 37 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Corley pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
They did well to land Bo Nix in Round 2, Pick 2, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Malachi Corley slipping to pick No. 68 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Cam Hart at No. 103 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Ben Sinnott at the 137th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Isaiah Williams at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: JD Bertrand in the 193rd overall pick, miles early. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Richard Jibunor well ahead of where he belonged. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
