The Packers went off the board in a big way for Roger Rosengarten, 44 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
However the rest shakes out, Barton at that price is a win they earned. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
In No. 32 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
They robbed the room for Cooper DeJean here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Graham Barton at slot 59 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Roger Rosengarten at the 91st overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Cedric Gray at the 107th pick, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Jarrian Jones at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good price on Curtis Jacobs in the 202nd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A premium they did not need to pay, Dominique Hampton a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Steal is underselling it; Frank Gore Jr. at pick No. 245 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
