Some picks age like wine; C.J. Hanson at pick No. 219 will need to, sitting 44 spots clear of his grade. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Puni. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot.
Cooper DeJean at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tyler Guyton in pick No. 58 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Max Melton at the 88th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Jaden Hicks in pick 91, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They barely believed it either: Dominick Puni still on the board at slot 126. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tommy Eichenberg at No. 169 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They did well to land Curtis Jacobs in Round 6, Pick 27, just ahead of his grade. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
C.J. Hanson at the 219th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach for Ryan Watts in pick 245; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Sam Hartman at par in pick No. 255, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
