The Giants lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
So much rides on Drake Maye that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Mims has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
In the 21st overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Keon Coleman at pick No. 37 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They went early on Amarius Mims in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach on Troy Fautanu in No. 105; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Luke Lachey. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They jumped the gun on Christian Mahogany, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
