They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Giants' quarterback, full stop. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Barrett to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Troy Fautanu at No. 37, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ja'Lynn Polk in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jermaine Burton in the 69th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Audric Estime in pick 105, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 121 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nothing to complain about; Mike Sainristil went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Michael Barrett in the 183rd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor itch, scratched.
