It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick 25, a good 26 spots before the room expected him. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
The Packers indulged a want in Hicks while a need in edge rusher, cornerback and other spots stayed open. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: running back settled and 2 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a blindside protector, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
They paid up for Edgerrin Cooper at the 41st overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonathon Brooks. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid a round early for Tykee Smith in the Round 3 slot, more than the board wanted. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A surprising call. With edge rusher, cornerback and other spots still to address, they spent slot 91 on Jaden Hicks, a safety they were not short of.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cedric Gray at linebacker with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots open.
