Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Hunter Nourzad at slot 216 is 38 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Sanders. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A quiet steal in pick No. 41: Brian Thomas Jr. for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
Edgerrin Cooper in the 57th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Ja'Tavion Sanders at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jaden Hicks in No. 91 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaylen Wright well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jordan Jefferson at pick 168 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at the 203rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Hunter Nourzad at No. 216 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Nathaniel Watson at slot 243 when waiting would have done the job. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Isaac Guerendo in Round 7, Pick 31 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
