The Packers clearly saw something nobody else did in Luke Reimer, taking him 107 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That Gould pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Chop Robinson in pick No. 25, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kingsley Suamataia well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Javon Bullard at pick 55. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Caelen Carson in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dominick Puni in the 91st pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Roger Rosengarten this early at No. 113. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Anthony Gould at pick 169 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Frank Crum at No. 219 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Luke Reimer at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
