You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Packers spent slot 92 on Javon Solomon while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots sat unaddressed. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Solomon left real value on the table behind him.
The Laumea value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Troy Fautanu slid further than he should have, and the 41st overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 25, where Calen Bullock graded well above the range. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Malachi Corley in No. 88 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose OLB-EDGE. Javon Solomon in the 92nd pick leaves edge rusher, quarterback and other spots for later.
Kris Abrams-Draine in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sataoa Laumea slipping to pick 135 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
