The Commanders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 152 on Joe Milton III a full 64 spots early. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Everything downstream of Caleb Williams depends on Caleb Williams, and the building knows it. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd pick they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Guyton in pick 36 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Darius Robinson at the 40th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kingsley Suamataia. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach for Devontez Walker in pick No. 78; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Khyree Jackson at slot 100 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Tommy Eichenberg in slot 139; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.

Matthew Jones at pick No. 222 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
