The Packers put a flag in the ground for CJ West, 54 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Higgins pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

In pick 23 they get a load in the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trey Amos in the 54th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jayden Higgins at Round 3, Pick 23 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Logan Brown well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; CJ West in the 159th pick says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
Carson Vinson in slot 198 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Clay Webb at No. 237 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
