The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Seahawks watched A.J. Haulcy slide 42 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Kamara pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Colton Hood in pick No. 42 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A.J. Haulcy in the 92nd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Emmett Johnson at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Keylan Rutledge in pick 112 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They talked themselves into Mikail Kamara at the 136th pick, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 12, with DeMonte Capehart worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy bit of business in No. 177, where Caleb Douglas graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Ephesians Prysock at par in slot 188, which is nothing to complain about. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
