The Vikings looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Hykeem Williams at the 244th pick regardless, 45 picks early. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That Price pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
They let Arvell Reese come to them and pounced at pick No. 18. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Lee Hunter. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Jadarian Price here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nice patience on Davison Igbinosun, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 33. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Nate Boerkircher in pick 163 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ephesians Prysock in the Round 6 slot. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Kaden Wetjen in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A big swing on Bryce Foster at slot 235, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value said wait; Hykeem Williams in pick 244 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
