They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Evan Williams, 39 picks early at the Round 7 slot.
That Coleman pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Keon Coleman is a better player than the 41st overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Edgerrin Cooper at par in No. 57, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They let Christian Haynes come to them and pounced at the 88th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jaden Hicks at pick No. 91 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They talked themselves into Jaylen Wright at pick 126, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach for Isaiah Davis in Round 5, Pick 32; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Christian Jones in the 203rd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nathaniel Watson at pick 216 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Value said wait; Evan Williams in the 243rd pick says they were not listening. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 251 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
