The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Justin Rogers fell into the 203rd pick. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Powers-Johnson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Quinyon Mitchell went about where he belonged in pick No. 25. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid up for Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick 41 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Malachi Corley is a better player than slot 88 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Bucky Irving in the 91st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Dominick Puni all the way to the 125th pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Malik Mustapha in No. 135, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Justin Rogers reach Round 6, Pick 28 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy bit of business in pick 217, where Jawhar Jordan graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in slot 219, with Omar Speights worth more than the price. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
By-the-book stuff, Demani Richardson at No. 246 squarely in line with his ranking. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
