Nobody had Jaylen Wright this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 72 spots to get him at pick 91.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Chop Robinson in slot 36; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid up for Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick 41 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Edgerrin Cooper at the 57th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Javon Bullard at No. 67 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, McKinnley Jackson at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A big swing on Jaylen Wright at pick No. 91, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They liked Cam Hart enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 126. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy little value on Will Shipley in slot 138, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 168 with a little surplus value in Dadrion Taylor-Demerson. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A wild overpay on Christian Jones in No. 169, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached a country mile for Myles Cole at the 243rd pick, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
