The Chiefs bet big and early on Theo Wease Jr., 23 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
Getting Brown where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
A tidy bit of business in slot 64, where Jonah Savaiinaea graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Nick Emmanwori at the 69th overall pick that the board grades a round light. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached into another round for Theo Wease Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jonah Coleman at pick No. 128 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Logan Brown in pick 160, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jimmy Horn Jr. this early at pick No. 193. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Fentrell Cypress II in the 224th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
