Some picks age like wine; Jaylon Hutchings at Round 7, Pick 35 will need to, sitting 99 spots clear of his grade. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Hadden at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. It is not that Bishop is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Dallas Turner at pick No. 26 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good price on Jordan Morgan in slot 41, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Javon Bullard worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Nice patience on Max Melton, who had no business lasting to pick 88. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Cole Bishop in No. 102 leaves quarterback for later.
A conviction pick on Isaac Guerendo at the 118th pick that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Theo Johnson in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
They paid a round early for Roger Rosengarten in the 126th pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Jordan Jefferson at the 169th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Kamal Hadden at pick No. 202 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ryan Flournoy in Round 6, Pick 44 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Edefuan Ulofoshio in slot 245, a genuine coup. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A real head-scratcher, Jaylon Hutchings in pick 255 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
