The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Sione Vaki, No. 219, roughly 61 picks past where he belonged. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Every board in the league had Okie-Anoma lower, and that gap is the story. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Brian Thomas Jr. graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Edgerrin Cooper in the 58th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Max Melton in pick No. 88. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Kingsley Suamataia here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ben Sinnott in pick 126 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Tykee Smith slipping to No. 169 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Kamal Hadden in slot 202, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Sione Vaki was still sitting there in pick 219, and they pounced on premier safety value. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They talked themselves into Eyabi Okie-Anoma at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Myles Murphy at Round 7, Pick 35 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
