The rest of the league will want that one back. Kitan Oladapo tumbling to the Packers in pick No. 202 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Jones pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback, outstanding value to boot.
Circle this one: Taliese Fuaga at the 41st overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at pick 58 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Kingsley Suamataia at Round 3, Pick 25 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
MarShawn Lloyd at slot 91 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jarrian Jones in the 126th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A premium they did not need to pay, Khristian Boyd a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A safety of that caliber at No. 202 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Cornelius Johnson at the 219th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dominique Hampton slid further than he should have, and the 245th pick is lovely value for the safety. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
A straight-up fair deal on Ryan Watts at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
