Everything else got attention, and cornerback got none. That is a strange way for the Cowboys to leave a draft.
Jordan falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nothing to complain about; Kiran Amegadjie went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Sedrick Van Pran at par in pick No. 87, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. A minor itch, scratched.
Michael Barrett in No. 174 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had Jawhar Jordan higher than Round 6, Pick 37, and the running back fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Devin Leary in slot 245, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
