Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Evan Williams at No. 169 is 63 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
It is not that Wallace is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first. The Grable value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line, outstanding value to boot.
Jordan Morgan in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Junior Colson in pick No. 58, a genuine coup. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on MarShawn Lloyd at the 88th pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A want over a need in the 91st overall pick: Trevin Wallace adds a linebacker while edge rusher, cornerback and other spots keeps waiting.
They liked Kitan Oladapo enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 126. A minor need, but a need all the same.

Dominique Hampton slipping to pick 202 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They paid up for Jacob Monk at Round 6, Pick 44 when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Tylan Grable at slot 245 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Jalen Sundell at the 255th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
