Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Commanders, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Put together, it is a D+.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Landing Trotter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Josiah Trotter at the Round 3 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 147 with a little surplus value in Jakobe Thomas. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Dallen Bentley slid further than he should have, and pick 209 is lovely value for the tight end. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Harrison Wallace III is a better player than the 220th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had Bobby Jamison-Travis higher than Round 7, Pick 7, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
