Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Ja'Had Carter at the Round 6 slot is 43 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Nelson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 41 with a little surplus value in Chop Robinson. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 19 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
TreVeyon Henderson at slot 83 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Roman Wilson went about where he belonged in the 92nd overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
