Philadelphia Eagles

Good, not great, for the Eagles: B-.

Future B

The Eagles put a flag in the ground for Richard Jibunor, 148 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.

They banked enough surplus on Speights to cover a lot of smaller sins. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.18 · Pick 50 · Kiran Amegadjie · OT · rank 53
No drama and no debate, Kiran Amegadjie went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 70
They paid up for Payton Wilson at the 59th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Jermaine Burton · WR · rank 51
Jermaine Burton is a better player than pick No. 66 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 66
Good price on Javon Bullard in pick 71, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.26 · Pick 89 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 118
A big swing on Kris Abrams-Draine at Round 3, Pick 26, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 119
Darius Robinson at No. 97 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 233
They talked themselves into Matthew Jones at the 137th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Richard Jibunor · OLB-EDGE · rank 326
Richard Jibunor in slot 178 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 249
A wild overpay on Dwight McGlothern in the 188th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Omar Speights · LB · rank 201
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Omar Speights in pick 225, plain and simple. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Chris Morris · OL · rank 253
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Chris Morris. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.28 · Pick 248 · Devin Leary · QB · rank 252
A straight-up fair deal on Devin Leary at pick No. 248, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
