Thirty-one other rooms let D'Angelo Ponds slide, and the Seahawks were the ones holding the card at Round 3, Pick 5. Highway robbery. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
It is not that Stukes is a bad player; it is that the Seahawks had louder needs to answer first. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
A.J. Haulcy in No. 59 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jadarian Price at slot 64 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a cornerback like D'Angelo Ponds reach pick 69 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Treydan Stukes adds a cornerback and leaves edge rusher, linebacker and other spots untouched.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keylan Rutledge. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Jeff Caldwell at par in the 188th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
