When a board-topper like Cade Klubnik slides to the 139th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Miller pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Will Campbell and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
A slide stopped in No. 36, with Nic Scourton worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A clean, defensible pick in the 68th pick with a little surplus value in Colston Loveland. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jay Higgins at pick 76 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A real head-scratcher, Blake Miller in pick No. 103 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Andrew Mukuba at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cade Klubnik in the 139th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tony Grimes at Round 7, Pick 3 is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They talked themselves into Tim Smith at the 220th pick, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Germie Bernard slid further than he should have, and the 235th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
