The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Starks: B.

When a board-topper like Malaki Starks slides to the 125th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Jahdae Barron · CB · rank 14
They let Jahdae Barron come to them and pounced at slot 24. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 26
Circle this one: Kenneth Grant at pick 56 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
R3.24 · Pick 88 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 25
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 24, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.24 · Pick 125 · Malaki Starks · S · rank 18
Malaki Starks in the 125th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R5.22 · Pick 159 · Maxwell Hairston · CB · rank 97
They will replay Maxwell Hairston at No. 159 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.24 · Pick 199 · Tory Horton · WR · rank 100
Tory Horton at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.21 · Pick 237 · Jamon Dumas-Johnson · LB · rank 196
You do not let a linebacker like Jamon Dumas-Johnson reach pick No. 237 and blink. They did not. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.34 · Pick 250 · Jonah Monheim · C · rank 212
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jonah Monheim in the 250th overall pick, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
