The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

They are betting Holker proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Drake Maye · QB · rank 5
In slot 3 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 37
They paid sticker price for Darius Robinson in the 34th pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Devontez Walker · WR · rank 64
Devontez Walker at No. 68 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Kiran Amegadjie · OT · rank 65
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kiran Amegadjie in pick 69. It fills a real need, too.
R4.36 · Pick 136 · Dallin Holker · TE · rank 158
Dallin Holker at the Round 4 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
